Javier M\u00e1rquez is the deputy scientific director of the IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND Institute and lead researcher of Group B-07: \u201cCanceromics\u201d at the Institute. Dr. M\u00e1rquez is a full professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of M\u00e1laga and scientific manager of the Proteomics Research Support Services since 2007. He completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Missouri - Kansas City in the United States of America from 1987 to 1989 and was a visiting professor at Brandeis University in Boston, United States of America, at Harvard Medical school in Cambridge, United States of America, and at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. He is the author of more than 110 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed, indexed journals with more than 5,200 citations and an h-index of 41. He is the principal investigator on more than 25 national and international competitive public projects.<\/p>\n
Other indicators of the quality of his scientific production include six uninterrupted six-year terms in research since 1984, one six-year term in transfer, and 14 doctoral theses directed. He is a member of the editorial review boards for the journals Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience and CANCERS. As part of his teaching work, he has taught courses on biochemistry and molecular biology at the UMA Faculty of Sciences for biology, environmental sciences, chemistry, and biochemistry undergraduate degrees since 1988. Furthermore, he has participated in numerous doctoral programs at the UMA and the International University of Andalusia (UNIA, for its initials in Spanish). He currently serves as coordinator for a course in the Master\u2019s Degree in Advanced Biotechnology at the UMA.<\/p>\n
Notable among his research evaluation work is his role as expert assessor for the Life Sciences speech for the European Union\u2019s Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions, Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe excellence programs since 2003. He is an assessor for research projects for the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and the National Agency for Evaluation and Futurology (ANEP, for its initials in Spanish). Jos\u00e9 Miguel Guzm\u00e1n is the Managing Director of the IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND and of the Andalusian Public Foundation for Health and Biomedicine Research in M\u00e1laga (FIMABIS).
He earned a degree from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Granada in 1999. In the following years, he completed his residency, specialising in Hospital Pharmacy at the Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital of M\u00e1laga. During this time, he earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of M\u00e1laga and completed a sabbatical at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine with a specialisation in Pharmacoeconomics.<\/p>\n
He later completed a Master\u2019s Degree in Health Economics and Management of Healthcare Organisations from the Andalusian School of Public Health and enrolled in an Executive MBA at the University of Navarre\u2019s IESE Business School. In 2012, he graduated with first class honours from the Public Health and Prevention doctoral degree programme of the University of M\u00e1laga's Faculty of Medicine.<\/p>\n
He has extensive experience as a Specialist Physician in the Hospital Pharmacy Department and in healthcare management, having worked in management positions as a Project Manager and Quality Manager at the Marina Salud Hospital (Alicante).<\/p>\n
From 2011 to May 2018, he was in charge of management for the Biomedical Research Institute of C\u00f3rdoba (IMIBIC), managing research and innovation at that centre<\/p>\n
