Es <strong data-start=\"527\" data-end=\"573\">Director del Departamento de Microbiolog\u00eda<\/strong> of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Universidad de M\u00e1laga<\/span><\/span> y responsable del <strong data-start=\"636\" data-end=\"745\">Grupo de Excelencia PAIDI RNM-0112 \u201cPatolog\u00eda, Gen\u00e9tica y Biotecnolog\u00eda de Especies Acu\u00e1ticas Cultivadas\u201d<\/strong>. Cuenta con una amplia trayectoria investigadora en <strong data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"827\">microbiolog\u00eda y virolog\u00eda<\/strong>, con especial experiencia en patolog\u00eda v\u00edrica y bacteriana, as\u00ed como en <strong data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"949\">respuesta inmune frente a infecciones virales<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"952\" data-end=\"1248\">Su actividad cient\u00edfica se ha desarrollado inicialmente en el \u00e1mbito de la <strong data-start=\"1027\" data-end=\"1057\">microbiolog\u00eda de las aguas<\/strong>, tanto bacteriana como v\u00edrica. Posteriormente en el estudio de <strong data-start=\"1123\" data-end=\"1151\">enfermedades infecciosas<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1154\" data-end=\"1188\">mecanismos de respuesta inmune<\/strong>, con aplicaciones en salud, medio ambiente y biotecnolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1250\" data-end=\"1619\">Presenta una s\u00f3lida producci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica. Ha publicado <strong data-start=\"1306\" data-end=\"1335\">188 art\u00edculos cient\u00edficos<\/strong>, de los cuales <strong data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"1358\">140<\/strong> est\u00e1n indexados en el <em data-start=\"1381\" data-end=\"1405\">Journal Citation Index<\/em>. Es autor de <strong data-start=\"1419\" data-end=\"1431\">9 libros<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1459\">28 cap\u00edtulos de libro<\/strong>, y ha presentado <strong data-start=\"1477\" data-end=\"1499\">226 comunicaciones<\/strong> a congresos nacionales e internacionales. Es titular de <strong data-start=\"1556\" data-end=\"1574\">cinco patentes<\/strong>, cuatro de ellas actualmente en explotaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1621\" data-end=\"1980\">Ha liderado una intensa actividad en captaci\u00f3n de fondos. Sus investigaciones han sido financiadas por <strong data-start=\"1724\" data-end=\"1757\">38 proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, de los cuales <strong data-start=\"1773\" data-end=\"1794\">22 son nacionales<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1797\" data-end=\"1819\">16 internacionales. Adem\u00e1s, ha actuado <\/strong>como Investigador Principal en <strong data-start=\"1861\" data-end=\"1877\">25 proyectos<\/strong>.
