Jefe de Servicio de Endocrinolog\u00eda y Nutrici\u00f3n del Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Victoria de M\u00e1laga. Catedr\u00e1tico de Medicina en la Facultad de Medicina de M\u00e1laga. ExPresidente SEEDO. Miembro del Comit\u00e9 Cient\u00edfico del CIBERobn.<\/h2>\n

Autor de m\u00e1s de 775 publicaciones originales en revistas m\u00e9dicas indexadas y revisadas por pares, adem\u00e1s de ser citado en m\u00e1s de 77.000 ocasiones. \u00cdndice de impacto acumulado de las publicaciones superior a 3500. \u00cdndice de H de 102. Investigador principal de m\u00e1s de 35 proyectos competitivos p\u00fablicos nacionales y europeos y de m\u00e1s de 120 ensayos cl\u00ednicos en las \u00e1reas de la diabetes y la obesidad. 35 tesis doctorales dirigidas. Premio Nacional a la mejor trayectoria de grupo de la SEEN. Medalla de Oro de la SEEDO.<\/p>\n

Desde Julio de 2019, pertenece al Comit\u00e9 Asesor de la Secretaria general de Investigaci\u00f3n de la Consejer\u00eda de Salud de la Junta de Andaluc\u00eda. Desde octubre de 2025, asume la Presidencia la Sociedad Espa\u00f1ola de Endocrinolog\u00eda y Nutrici\u00f3n (SEEN).<\/p>\n
