IBIMA is one of the national biobanks hubs of The ISCIII Biobanks and Biomodels Platform. The Biobank HUB’s purpose is to improve the competitiveness of Spanish biomedical and health research, providing researchers with centralised access to collections and data associated with the samples. In addition, advice on ethical and legal issues is also included. This platform is part of the BBMRI-ERIC network.

BBMRI-ERIC is a European research infrastructure for biobanking that bring together all the main players from the biobanking field – researchers, biobankers, industry, and patients – to boost biomedical research. This network offers a variety of services from sample searching to ethical counseling.

The network comprises a total of 23 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Norwand, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom.
