Unicaja Foundation and Ibima Plataforma Bionand announce the 4th Unicaja Foundation Award for Innovation in Biomedicine and Health

    The prize, worth 15,000 euros, will be awarded for projects on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases or improvement of healthcare activity.

     

    The Unicaja Foundation and the Malaga Biomedical Research Institute and Nanomedicine Platform (IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND) have announced the 4th Unicaja Foundation Prize for Innovation in Biomedicine and Health. With a prize of 15,000 euros, the award rewards the best innovation project on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases or improvement of healthcare activity.

Tinahones, han dado a conocer este lunes las bases de este premio, que tiene como objetivo fomentar la innovación en salud y sus aplicaciones directas sobre la práctica clínica para mejorar la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos.

    With this initiative, the Unicaja Foundation continues its commitment to research and progress in Biomedicine as one of its priority lines of action. The entity collaborates with the Malaga Biomedical Research Institute and Nanomedicine Platform (IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND) and other entities in the field of health and innovation to promote projects that contribute to shed light on particularly sensitive clinical and scientific fields.  

     

    Innovation to improve citizens' quality of life

    The deadline for submitting projects begins on Tuesday 25 June and ends on 23 September. Professionals from the public health system in the province of Malaga and researchers attached to the Biomedical Research Institute of Malaga and Nanomedicine Platform (IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND) may participate. The innovative nature, applicability and impact, the suitability of the research team, economic viability and implementation strategy are among the criteria for evaluating the work.

    The projects submitted, which may be at any stage of development, must be of an applied nature and aim to promote innovation in the healthcare centres of the Andalusian Public Health System (APHS) and/or the transfer of innovative solutions. With a prize of 15,000 euros, which will be managed through the Malaga Foundation for Research in Biomedicine and Health (FIMABIS), the amount awarded will be used for its development within 18 months, counting from the publication of the jury's decision.     In the third edition of the award, the project ‘Intelligent System to Aid Clinical Diagnosis of Non-obstructive Coronary Artery Disease in Coronary angiography’ by IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND researchers Esteban José Palomo Ferrer and Ana Isabel Molina Ramos was awarded. The winning project in the second edition was ‘Telemedicine in the care of complex-pluripathological chronic children and subsidiaries of paediatric palliative care’, led by Aurora Madrid, from the Maternal-Children's Hospital of Malaga. In the first edition, the prize went to the research ‘Development of a microarray with beta-lactam-protein conjugates and beta-lactam-nanostructure for the diagnosis of antibiotic allergy’ by the Allergology UGC of the Regional University Hospital of Malaga and the Allergology group of IBIMA, led by María Isabel Montañez.
