MASTER'S DEGREE IN GENERAL HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY

Objectives

  • Possess and understand knowledge that provides a basis or opportunity for originality in the development and/or application of ideas, often in a research context.

  • Students should be able to apply their acquired knowledge and problem-solving skills in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of study.

  • Students are able to integrate knowledge and face the complexity of making judgements based on incomplete or limited information, including reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgements.

  • Students are able to communicate their conclusions and the ultimate knowledge and rationale behind them to specialist and non-specialist audiences in a clear and unambiguous way.

  • Students possess the learning skills that will enable them to continue studying in a largely self-directed or autonomous way.

  • Acquire, develop and put into practice a concept of integral health, where the biopsychosocial components of health are taken into account, in accordance with the guidelines established by the WHO.

  • Apply the fundamentals of bioethics and the method of deliberation in professional practice, adjusting their practice as health professionals to the provisions of Law 44/2003, of 21 November, on the organisation of health professions.

  • Show interpersonal communication and emotional management skills appropriate for effective interaction with patients, relatives and carers in the processes of problem identification, assessment, communication of the diagnosis and psychological intervention and follow-up.

  • Know the framework of action of the general health psychologist and know how to refer to the corresponding specialist professional.

  • Knowledge of the regulations in force in the Spanish health sector.
